The classical performances in Siracusa

Since 5th century BC the greek tragedy was an interesting performance.
This tradition is still supported by the National Institute of Ancient Drama which every year during May and June organizes the classical performances in the picturesque greek theatre of Syracuse.

L'infiorata di Noto

A Noto (patrimonio mondiale dell'Unesco) ogni anno la terza Domenica di Maggio è dedicata all'infiorata. L'infiorata è uno spettacolare tappeto di petali di fiori allestito nella scenografica via Nicolaci, via Galilei ed altre zone del centro. I riquadri, realizzati con creatività e perizia dagli artisti, propongono di anno in anno motivi diversi: religiosi, mitologici e di cultura popolare.

Canoe Polo World Championship 2016

The beautiful setting of the historic and charming city of Syracuse is preparing to host an extraordinary event: the Canoe Polo World Championships 2016. Canoe Polo is not so much known in the eyes of the big audience, but it’s a fantastic sport, with great performances, competition, entertainment and a lot of emotions.

The ICF Canoe Polo World Championship is an extraordinary international event and Syracuse has the honor of hosting this event.
Syracuse, with its natural “Water Stadium” surrounded by history and nature, will surely be the perfect location!

Siracusa City Marathon 2014

The Siracusa City Marathon is one of the most important running events in Syracuse and Sicily since 1999. Originally the marathon of Syracuse took place in spring but from some years it is at the end of January. The race is open to professional and amateur athletes. Every year athletes from different countries run at the Siracusa City Marathon. The route of the marathon is beautiful and crosses Ortygia, the historical centre of Syracuse and the nature reserve of the Ciane river. The route is pleasant and flat and the arrival and awarding is in Ortigia, near the ancient Apollo temple. Fluids, refreshment stations and medical aid are available along the course. The race includes different specialities: marathon, half marathon, 10 Km and "stracittadina" (Lilt Marthon). The last one is the best race for amateurs who want to run a round of the historical centre and have fun.

The 15th edition of the marathon will be on January 26, 2014. It is also possible to sign in online on the official website. Deadline is on January 15, 2014. After this date it's possible to sign in with a little surcharge.

Tango Festival Syracuse

The Siracusa tango Festival is one of the most popular and attended summer tango events, because it joins a nice stay in one of the most beautiful and culturally rich locations in Sicily, and a opportunity to dance with international dancers. Also the most popular maestros are usually attending this event and spectacular performances take place on every edition in the breathtaking setting of the Maniace Castle.
